Mayflower Mountain Resort
MAYFLOWER MOUNTAIN RESORT | Park City, Utah
Now taking form on Deer Valley® Resort’s eastern boundary, just below the Sultan Lift, is Mayflower Mountain Resort. As North America’s first new mountain ski resort since 1980, this 6,800-acre parcel sits on the west side of Highway 40 overlooking the Jordanelle Reservoir. Located just 35 minutes from Salt Lake City’s brand-new International airport, guests and owners will access the resort without encountering a single traffic light. The master developer is Extell Development, one of the nation’s premier residential real estate developers with an extensive portfolio in New York City and beyond.
The skiing component will consist of 4,300 acres of skiable terrain with 3,200 ft of vertical, offering both groomed and off-piste skiing. Mayflower Resort’s skiable area will make it larger than other significant resorts such as Blackcomb, Steamboat, Snowmass, Aspen and even our own Deer Valley®. The varied terrain, designed by firm Snow Engineering, will be accessed by 15 aerial lifts, including a two-stage, base-to-summit gondola. Snowmaking will be available on 750 acres. While the ski area operator agreement has not been finalized, talks are ongoing with Alterra (owner of Deer Valley® Resort) as well as other interested operators. A decision on the operator agreement is expected by next ski season.
The Mayflower Village will be built out over the next several decades and will ultimately consist of the following:
- up to four condominium hotels
- a skier beach
- a Nordic skiing track
- an alpine coaster
- an ice skating rink
- a miniature golf course
- zip lines
- an off road bike “pump track”
- a skate park
- an outdoor amphitheater for concerts and movies
- a spa, restaurants and shopping
MWR HOTEL
In a unique collaboration with MIDA (Utah’s Military Installation Development Authority), Mayflower will offer the MWR Hotel in a private-public partnership for the MWR conference hotel, which will offer:
- 55 private condominium residences
- 387 rooms and suites
- restaurants
- 60,000 sf conference, ballrooms, and food & beverage
Military personnel and their families, both active and retired, will have priority access to accommodations at this property. This will be the first hotel to emerge from the base village, with completion planned for December of 2024 and snowmaking set to commence for the 2024/2025 season. The balance of the infrastructure, largely funded by MIDA, will continue at a rapid pace. This includes the completion of the first portal under Highway 40, which will provide skiing connectivity between Mayflower and Deer Valley® resorts to the existing communities of Sky Ridge, The Lodge at Stillwater, The Views at Stillwater, The Shores, and Lakeside at Mayflower.
